OnePlus 11 5G Review: A Flagship Smartphone

OnePlus, a well-known smartphone brand worldwide, has recently launched its latest flagship handset in India, the OnePlus 11 5G. This premium smartphone from OnePlus is up against other top contenders such as Xiaomi’s 13 Pro, Vivo X80 Pro, iQOO 11 5G, Samsung Galaxy S23, Apple iPhone 14, and iPhone 13. With its impressive features and specifications, the OnePlus 11 5G aims to compete with the best of the best.

Design and Build

The OnePlus 11 5G is available in two colour options – Titan Black and Eternal Green. It comes in two variants with prices starting at Rs 56,999 for the basic variant and Rs 61,999 for the higher model. We reviewed the Titan Black variant, and it looks sleek and premium. The phone’s glossy back features a glass-metal construction with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The device hardly attracts fingerprints and dust and feels great to hold. It is lightweight and comfortable to use, even for extended periods. The only downside is that it does not come with IP certification.

The rear side of the OnePlus 11 5G has a massive, circular camera bump with “Hasselblad” branding. The phone comes with a triple-camera set-up and LED on the back. On the right side, OnePlus’s famous alert slider makes a comeback, and it also has a power button. On the left, you will find volume rockers. At the bottom, the smartphone has a Nano-SIM Card Slot, USB Type-C charging port, and speakers.

Display

The OnePlus 11 5G sports a 6.7-inch 2K 120Hz Super Fluid AMOLED Display with LTPO 3.0. This self-developed technology saves energy and adapts refresh rates according to the specific use, ensuring touch response and accuracy, and power efficiency. It allows the screen to automatically switch between 1Hz and 120Hz refresh rate based on the on-screen content requirements.

The viewing experience on the OnePlus 11 was excellent. The smartphone delivers bright and sharp colours for content consumption. While playing games and watching videos, movies, or your favourite sports, the experience with the display wasn’t disappointing at all. Thanks to the AMOLED screen, the OnePlus 11 delivers bright colours even in direct sunlight.

Camera

The OnePlus 11 5G is the third-generation smartphone from OnePlus to feature an imaging system co-created in partnership with Hasselblad. It features a triple camera setup on the rear that includes a 50MP (f/1.8) primary camera, a 48MP (f/2.2) camera, and a 32MP (f/2.0) camera. It also has a single front camera setup for selfies, featuring a 16MP sensor with an f/2.45 aperture.

We tested the camera in various lighting situations and were impressed with the quality. The device took detailed and colourful pics in various light conditions. The portrait mode, in particular, took excellent pictures even in low light conditions. At 2x, tuned for half-body portraits, it uses the telephoto lens to mimic the bokeh effect of the Hasselblad XCD 65mm.

Hasselblad’s partnership with OnePlus extends to image filters too. There are three new filters – Serenity, Radiance, and Emerald – and each of them takes the imaging experience to a whole new level. Additionally, the OnePlus 11 5G is equipped with the latest iteration of TurboRAW HDR, OnePlus’s own algorithm for High Dynamic Range (HDR), to help capture scenes with pristine HDR.

Performance and Software

The OnePlus 11 5G runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which is built on a 5nm process. It comes with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device also has a built-in Adreno 730 GPU for smooth gaming and video playback. It runs on Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 out of the box, which is incredibly responsive and fast.

The OxygenOS 12 is an optimized version of Android, and it adds a lot of useful features such as Zen Mode, Game Space, and Reading Mode. The user interface is straightforward, and you can customize the look and feel of the phone to your liking. The new operating system also features a new visual design language called “Material You” that is more personalized and adaptive.

The OnePlus 11 5G also supports 5G connectivity and has Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The device also has an in-display fingerprint sensor that is quick and responsive.

Battery

The OnePlus 11 5G comes with a 4500mAh battery, which supports 65W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The device charges from 0% to 100% in just 30 minutes, which is impressive. It also has reverse wireless charging capabilities, which means you can use the device to charge other devices.

Verdict

The OnePlus 11 5G is an excellent flagship smartphone that offers premium features and impressive specifications. Its sleek design, stunning display, and powerful performance make it an ideal device for heavy users and gamers. The partnership with Hasselblad has resulted in a fantastic camera system that delivers excellent pictures in all lighting conditions.

The only downside is that the device does not have an IP rating for water and dust resistance. But if you can overlook that, the OnePlus 11 5G is a worthy contender in the premium smartphone category. The device is priced competitively and offers a lot of value for the money. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, the OnePlus 11 5G is definitely worth considering.
